In special education, the use of technology is a necessity in every classroom. Such technology can take the form of digital resources (high tech) or other non-digital tools (low-tech). Teachers must take the time to be comfortable with the use of both types of technology in their lessons and instruction. While it does not replace quality instruction from the teacher, technology can enhance concepts and make the curriculum more accessible for the students.

Select either an elementary or secondary school context and create an 8-10 slide digital professional development presentation for school staff about high tech and low-tech tools that can be used to enhance math instruction and assessments for students with disabilities. Technology tools should also be useful when teaching Arizona or another state’s standards from the Geometry domain and can include apps, videos, websites, etc. The technology selected should be developmentally appropriate for the school level selected..

The presentation should include the following:

What is the meaning of assistive technology? It is equipment that are used to assist
students who have special needs.
Indoors and outdoors, there are high and low assistive technology gadgets in use.
Some assistive technology are available for purchase at your local retailer.

Assistive Technology is a type of design that is used to assist kids who have learning
difficulties. It is used to help students who have dyslexia, physical disabilities, or cognitive
issues function in their learning. These resources include any technology or piece of
equipment that can assist a learner in compensating for learning difficulties. Even if they
can’t totally remove learning issues, they’re still a good way to help pupils maximize their
strengths while reducing their deficiencies. These devices take the form of software that
is tailored to the type of handicap that a person may have, such as visual, writing, or
reading difficulties. It depends on how severe the impairment is.

High Technology Devices
iPads, graphing calculators, and paper-based computers are examples of technological
assistive devices.

According to Georgia Tech, high-tech assistive technology is defined as “the most
advanced gadgets or equipment that include digital or electronic components [and] may
be digitized.”These include gadgets that substitute sound with visual and vibrating
features. A vibrating alarm clock is a good illustration of how technology can help deaf
and hard of hearing people.Deaf students benefit from voice to text technology, which
generates human speech artificially. This allows them to communicate more effectively
