Investigation 2

This week our objectives are to understand the regulatory environment  and how they impact the implementation of technologies to support  Electronic Medical Records. In this investigation you will research the  Health Information Technology for Economic     and Clinical Health Act. HITECH. While Chapter 1 defines HITECH you  are expected to research this topic reviewing several resources (a  minimum of 3) and address the following:

• Describe HITECH in your own words.
• Describe meaningful use, its three stages, and the specific requirements for each element of the act.
• Explain how compliant providers were reimbursed.
• Describe the penalties that can be assessed for eligible providers.

Evaluate the act and then describe how the implementation of Electronic Medical Records impacts the quality of healthcare.

Present your findings in a short, well-organized, and edited essay  This assignment will be graded based on the Weekly Investigations Rubric.
