conference blog
PURPOSE
It is important for current day scientists to learn to write in a variety of styles. The idea of the blog is to convey the background and importance of the research question that will be featured in the upcoming conference.
LEARNING OUTCOME
LO2 Demonstrate the skills to communicate the results of physiological study in both written and oral form
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
- You will produce a blog in the style of ‘The Conversation’, ‘I Spy Physiology’, or other similar blog sites. In plain language you will provide background information that helps describe the importance of the research question you have chosen. You will include hyperlinks to relevant research articles, culminating in the overall Aims of your intended study to ‘advertise’ why people should attend the conference.
INSTRUCTIONS
Investigate an area that interest you: Use scientific search engines to investigate a research area of interest.
Identify a research question: Read the background literature on your topic of interest to identify a gap in the research.
Decide on the broad Aims of your study. Remember, you will not be carrying out the research for this topic, merely designing the experiment.
Write a blog in plain language describing the background of your research question including hyperlink to specific information. This is the ‘advertisement’ for your upcoming conference slot!
