For the Unit 1 Complete assignment, write a narrative essay (minimum of 1200 words) which
addresses the questions and statements below.  When finished, the essay should demonstrate a
thorough understanding of the READ and ATTEND sections.  A minimum of three scholarly
sources are required, and all sources should be cited and referenced in APA format.  
 
1. Define the term “organization”. What is organizational theory and design?
2. Can an organization be efficient without being effective? Can an inefficient organization still
be an effective one?  Explain your answers.
3. What is scientific management? How is it used?
4. How might the top management of an organization use SWOT analysis or scenario planning to
set goals and strategy? Explain.
5. Refer to the Case for Analysis, Millier Machine Parts & Services. How do you think the
managers should go about resolving their differences with regard to their strategies?

getting lung cancer. Evaluate the part of the statement that reads “the person who
