4-2 Executive Summary: Working with Tableau-Analyze Data
Purpose and Respondents:
Executive summary is a critical tool for bringing attention to employee burnout, facilitating
effective responses, and guiding organizational strategies to enhance well-being and
productivity. Since many of the employees at this company have reported that they are struggling
with burnout, the purpose of this executive summary is to analyze and interpret the data from the
results of the employee survey and recommend solutions to reduce the burnout. The survey
respondents are employees in our company from all age groups, tenure, and positions, including
executive management and leadership. This was done to ensure that all demographics were
covered.
Results
The results from the employee survey were analyzed and bar charts were used to convert the data
into easy-to-read visual information. Once questioned asked on the survey was “What is your
current level of burnout at work?” and I was tasked to see which gender is experiencing the
burnout level “Pretty wiped out almost every day” and which male group is experiencing the
stress level “A little stress that would be expected with the ups and downs of life” at home the
most. Per the survey, twenty-one of the female employees are experiencing being wiped out
daily and seven males in the ages group, 30-39 feel that a little stress is to be expected with life
difficulties. (see chart below)

The next bar below represents the response to the question “Which leadership level strongly
agrees with the fact that they love what they do?” Based on the results, twenty-four managers
strongly agree with this question.
The final bar below represents the results from the gender with a tenure of 5+ years that had the
lowest number of responses for the burnout level “I feel great! Energy to spare!” Based on the
data retrieved, only one female employee agrees with that statement.

Recommendations
Based on the results, to effectively reduce employee burnout, the company ought to focus
on the following two areas: workload management and employee well-being to reduce employee
burnout. Ensure that employees have a manageable workload because overloading them with
excessive tasks can lead to stress and burnout. Also, encourage them to take regular breaks and
ensure that employees take their allotted vacation time. Promoting a healthy work-life balance
helps prevent burnout and maintains productivity. Additionally, providing support for their
mental well-being can help employees cope with stress and prevent burnout. Focusing on these
areas, the company can create a healthier work environment that mitigates the risk of burnout
and promotes overall employee wellness.

Executive Summary
Purpose and respondents:
The purpose of the executive summary is to identify, based on thorough research, key
points to analyze and collect information. Results are described and concluded based on
highlighted information and recommendations that can be made from this specific report. There
was a survey provided to employees to help analyze burnout and being overworked. This survey
will help us understand, based on feedback, solutions on how we can reduce employee burnout.
And how we can move forward as a company to ensure our overall internal operations are
provided efficiently and provides better motivation and improvement. As a company its
important that we analyze and find solutions, and with negative results, it’s high priority that we
implement a plan of improvement, with urgency,
Results:
There were four questions that included results from males and females from ages 20 and
up to 50+, with employees who have less than 1 year up to 5 or more years with the company
and different leadership levels from individual contributor all the way to top executive levels.
There was also an opt-out category for those who did not want to disclose such information.

Recommendations:
Although some areas were higher than others, I think overall it is important that we focus
on everyone, regardless of gender, age, longevity at the job or leadership role. I think working
from higher up and down would be the best recommendation to help with engagement and
motivation. Preventing burnout requires good organizational hygiene, better data, asking more
timely and relevant questions, smarter (more micro) budgeting, and ensuring that wellness
offerings are included as part of a well-being strategy (Maslach & Leiter, 2019). One area that
can be focused on to reduce employment burnout is promoting a work-life balance. This can be
offered by implementing a hybrid schedule or flexible hours, setting realistic expectations for

7
workload and deadlines and creating a culture where employees are comfortable with having
work and personal life boundaries.
Another area to focus on is just setting up a supportive work environment to reduce
burnout. Encouraging open communication and feedback, recognition and rewards, employee
assistance programs and mental health resources are just a few to name. “When people feel
valued at work, they are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs, less likely to experience
burnout or turnover, and more likely to go above and beyond their roles” (Lavji, 2023). With
commitment and consistency, there is a high possibility that the promotion of positive work
culture and reduced burnout can be successful.

Purpose:
The Executive Summary is compiled to analyze the results of an employee survey and
determine how to best utilize the responses. In return, the goals are to work towards reducing
and/or preventing burnout experienced by the employees. The pool of employees that
contributed feedback ranged in ages from 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+, both female and male
genders participated, employment longevity was recorded as having less than 1 year, 1 year but
less than 2 years, 2-5 years, 5+ years, the levels of leadership ranged from individual contributor,
manager, director, and executive. For each question there was also the option to “opt-out” as
answer choice if the participant wasn’t comfortable providing a response. Results showed that 61
females and 49 males answered the survey. Additionally, 7 employees chose to not disclose their
gender. The majority of responses at the leadership level was the “manager”, and the collective
majority age range was 40-49.
Results:
1. Which gender is experiencing the burnout level “Pretty wiped out almost every
day” most? The results of the Employee Survey demonstrated that those identifying as
female are experiencing burnout the most with “Pretty wiped out almost every day” as
the highest option recorded. Twenty-one females vs. six males responded with this
answer in the survey. Females as the majority are facing burnout at a much higher rate
with all the options given.

2. Which male age group is experiencing the stress level, “A little stress that would be
expected with the ups and downs of life” at home the most? The male age group of
50+ is experiencing the stress level, “A little stress that would be expected with the ups
and downs of life” at home the most. It appears that males in this age bracket are feeling
an average stress level, and fortunately not many are feeling overly stressed.

3. Which leadership level strongly agrees with the fact that they love what they do?
Survey results concluded that the level that strongly agreed with the fact that they love
what they do the most is at manager stage. Those that are working in this capacity
reported satisfaction far greater than those in corresponding positions of leadership.

4. Which gender with a tenure of 5+ years had the lowest number of responses for the
burnout level “I feel great! Energy to spare!”? The female gender with a tenure of 5+
years had the lowest number of responses in comparison to the males with the same
attribution. It was not a significant difference, but enough to highlight the difference.

Recommendations:
First, a concern of mine would be why the scores showed that the manager level was far
more satisfied with their working environment than all others. Asking more probing or direct
questions as to how or what makes this a fulfilling position for employees may be warranted.
Perhaps diving deeper with questions regarding pay scales, or the types of responsibility under
their job description, or even what or how many hours spent at the workplace may provide a
bigger picture and relevant insight. Whatever the response renders, knowledge like this could
help facilitate changes across all levels of employment and be utilized to boost morale at other
leadership levels.
I would recommend providing a list of resources both internally and externally for
employees to utilize while on the job or during personal time help with the reduction of stress.
Suggestions to take under consideration are flexible business hours, confidential employee
assistance programs for counseling that could be open to employees and their families, hosting
team building events at the office to build up morale and comradery. Many exercises are viable
option that could assist with reducing stress levels of employees. However, overall morale, is a
big one to address and it should be done in a timely manner. Overall, any changes implemented
for the betterment of the people will benefit the company as employees that are happier are far
more productive.

Part 2: Executive summary
1. Purpose and respondents: The purpose of the executive summary is to give executive
leadership a snap shot on how their employees are feeling in regards to burnout within the
company. It also allows for employees to give honest feedback to their executive leadership.
2. The bar graphs above each provides an illustration of my analysis for that particular questions
and help answer the questions with supporting data.
3. Recommendations: based on my analysis, I would recommend the two areas the company can
focus on to reduce employee burnout is focusing on female employees. Female employee’s
burnout levels and males employees over 50+ years old. These two areas had very high data
supporting extreme burnout.
